Walker Energy Analysis is a specialist energy and building physics consultancy working with architects, M&E consultants, developers and contractors across the UK. Part L compliance, BREEAM energy and comfort credits, overheating and daylight modelling, and energy statements for planning: this is the core of what we do, not a sideline.
Every assessment runs through IES Virtual Environment as standard. Where a project needs dynamic simulation rather than a simplified calculation, whether that is Part L, Part O, TM59, TM52, BB101, or TM54, the model is already built, and the same geometry carries across from one assessment to the next.
Accreditations
Compliance work has to be completed by someone holding the right registration and expertise. Our engineers hold:
- CIBSE Low Carbon Energy Assessor, Level 5
- CIBSE Low Carbon Consultant, covering Building Design, Building Operation and Simulation
- IES Level 5 (Dynamic Simulation)
- On Construction Domestic Energy Assessor (OCDEA)
Level 5 LCEA covers the full range of non-domestic buildings and calculation methods, including dynamic simulation. OCDEA registration covers new and converted dwellings under Part L1. Between them, both compliance routes are handled in-house, so mixed-use schemes do not need splitting between two consultants.
The buildings we work on
Hotels, schools and sixth forms, care homes, student accommodation, warehouses, offices, retail and leisure. New build and refurbishment, under both the Part L1 and Part L2 routes.
The range matters because the assessment method changes with building type more than people expect. A care home and an office both need overheating assessment, but one is TM59 and the other TM52, with different occupancy profiles and different pass criteria. A school adds BB101 and the DfE Output Specification on top.
